About this journal

Tobacco Control and Public Health in Eastern Europe (TCPHEE) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal.

The TCPHEE was founded in April 2011 and is supported by the following entities:

bulletAlcohol and Drug Information Center (ADIC-Ukraine), Kiev, Ukraine, http://adic.org.ua
bulletChoice Foundation, Kazan, Russia, http://andreevin.narod.ru/choice
bulletSchool of Public Health, University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Kyiv, Ukraine, http://sph.ukma.kiev.ua

The journal content is fully accessible online. Print versions are issued only on special occasions when resources are allocated for printing.

Two issues are planned to be published each year.

TCPHEE is intended to present research that will be important for shaping healthy public policy in low- and middle-income countries with a primary focus on the countries of the former Soviet Union.

TCPHEE covers all areas of Public Health with special regard to issues related to economic, demographic and epidemiologic transition, East-West differences, and development of Public Health and national health systems. As a multidisciplinary journal it aims at attracting contributions from epidemiology, health economics, social sciences (sociology of health), environmental health sciences, and other disciplines relevant to public health.

Both observational and experimental studies are welcome; as well as quantitative and qualitative.

The journal provides a forum for discussion and debate of current international public health issues, with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe. We understand that because of funding constraints as well as the limitations of the previous education system in this region, many studies face constraints in study design and scope of work which may limit their acceptability in western journals. It is the intent of the editors of this journal to work with authors so as improve their manuscripts and so facilitate the development of internationally acceptable research in the region.

The journal considers for publication original articles, editorials, commentaries, literature reviews, book reviews, news, letters to the editor, announcements of events, and various other features.

Manuscripts are welcome from established scholars, students of medical and public health schools as well as NGOs working in the area of public health.
